When he was seven years old, Joaquin Araujo remembers farming with his grandfather in Portugal. After working and travelling many places in the world, Joaquin moved to Canada in 1976 and farmed with his cousin. He bought his own orchard near Naramata in 1985 and replaced the original trees with newer varieties. He now grows several types of cherries, peaches, and apples.

“I don’t like working inside. I like the sunshine, listening to the birds, and seeing the trees growing,” he says. “I don’t mind hard work!” The luscious fruits of his labours are marketed through B.C. Tree Fruits Limited under the B.C. Brand label – your guarantee of quality.
