What is Ag Day?

Ag Day in Victoria is BC Agriculture Council’s signature advocacy event, bringing together farmers, ranchers, and agricultural representatives from across British Columbia to connect with government officials, stakeholders, and policymakers. This annual event highlights the critical role of agriculture in B.C.’s economy, food security, and communities, providing a unique platform to advocate for the sector’s priorities.

2025 Ag Day in Victoria:

BC Agriculture Council’s annual advocacy event, Ag Day in Victoria, recently took place on October 28, 2025. This event brought nearly 70 B.C. farmers, ranchers, and industry leaders together for close to 40 meetings with cabinet ministers, MLAs, senior government officials, and key industry stakeholders.

Cabinet ministers we met with were:

    • Hon. David Eby, Premier

    • Hon. Tamara Davidson, Minister of Environment and Parks

    • Hon. Diana Gibson, Minister of Citizens’ Services

    • Hon. Kelly Greene, Minister of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness

    • Hon. Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs & Economic Growth

    • Hon. Nina Krieger, Minister of Public Safety & Solicitor General

    • Hon. Bowinn Ma, Minister of Infrastructure

    • Hon. Randene Neill, Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship

    • Hon. Ravi Parmar, Minister of Forests

    • Hon. Lana Popham, Minister of Agriculture and Food

    • Hon. Niki Sharma, Attorney General & Deputy Premier

    • Hon. Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Labour

2025’s key ask is for the government to recognize B.C.’s agriculture sector as an essential service, which also means ensuring its critical needs are reliably met so farmers and ranchers can keep supplying our province under even the most extreme conditions.

Note: Due to the provincial election in 2024, BC Agriculture Council did not hold its annual Ag Day in Victoria. Instead, we took the opportunity to engage with candidates from all political parties across the province to discuss the critical priorities of the agriculture sector.
