ABBOTSFORD, BC – February 13, 2026: BC Agriculture Council (BCAC) has launched a new BC Young Farmers Scholarship, an initiative developed through the BC Young Farmers (BCYF) Committee to support young people pursuing education and training in agriculture and related fields.
The annual scholarship will be awarded to a British Columbia resident between the ages of 19 and 40 who demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing the agriculture sector through post-secondary education or similar training. The scholarship aims to empower and equip the next generation of agricultural leaders as they build careers in the sector.
Eligible applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents enrolled in an accredited Canadian post-secondary program related to agriculture. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing careers in primary agriculture or aquaculture, as well as those affiliated with a BC Agriculture Council member association.
“We are proud to support young people who are choosing agriculture as a career path,” said Rebecca Senicar, Chair of the BC Young Farmers Committee. “We know the future of our sector depends on passionate, skilled individuals, and this program is one way we can help remove barriers and invest directly in the next generation of leaders.”
The selected scholarship recipient will be invited to the upcoming BC Agriculture Forum, where the award will be formally presented.
“BC Agriculture Council is focused on keeping agriculture strong today while preparing for the future,” said BC Agriculture Council President Jennifer Woike. “Supporting young farmers through initiatives like this scholarship is critical to addressing workforce challenges while strengthening the future of farming in our province.”
Applications for the BC Young Farmers Scholarship are being accepted now through April 7, 2026. Full eligibility details and application information are available at bcac.ca/scholarship.
