BCAC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Manager to join our Abbotsford office. The Communications Manager is responsible for managing and executing the strategic communications initiatives of the Council. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager is a member of the BCAC Management Team and will supervise BCAC’s communications staff.
This position is a full-time, temporary position (18-month maternity leave) starting ideally early in 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implementing and managing BCAC’s communications and engagement activities, including BCAC hosted events
- Supervising BCAC’s Communications staff
- Overseeing all digital communications including social media, email and website
- Supporting BCAC’s policy development work and activities
- Supporting BCAC’s government and media relations activities
- Overseeing the development of all marketing, promotional, member and stakeholder relations activities and materials
- Demonstrating BCAC’s ongoing value to members
- Overseeing the Farmer Identity Card (FID) program sales and marketing activities
- Contributing to BCAC’s corporate culture and positive work environment
Candidate qualities and qualifications:
- You are a strategic thinker, skilled in implementing digital communications
- You have experience in public affairs including government and media relations
- You are experienced in preparing and monitoring budgets
- You are experienced in drafting professional content for purposes such as speeches, presentations, letter writing, report writing and board meeting minutes.
- You are expert in coordinating small and large-scale, high quality, digitally-integrated events
- You have expertise in people management and know how to coach others to bring out their best
- You have some understanding of BC agriculture or a similar sector
- You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, balancing important tasks against urgent ones and prioritizing limited resources appropriately
- You have exceptionally strong organization skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver results
- You are approachable, work well with others, listen effectively, and ensure people feel welcomed and respected
- You see the big picture yet evidence a keen conscientiousness in attention to detail and determination in seeing tasks through to completion

Education and Work Experience:
You have worked 3 to 5 years in a mid-management public relations role in addition to completing post-secondary education in public relations, communications, business administration or other relevant discipline.

The Western Agriculture Labour Initiative (WALI) is a wholly owned subsidiary of BCAC. The WALI team works with employers, governments, and stakeholders to meet the growing challenge of finding farm workers and to improve working conditions.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Operations Manager to join our team.
The Technical Operations Manager contributes to WALI’s impact by ensuring that the WALI employer portal is operational on a daily basis and managing the development, testing and implementation of new modules. This role is also responsible for ensuring that administrative activities relating to the portal and WALI operations are processed accurately.
Reporting to the WALI General Manager, the Technical Operations Manager has a keen understanding of the business information flow for employers wanting to hire Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) and how WALI supports this process. The successful candidate has experience working with MySQL, Linux, Dynamics and Python. They also understand customer relationship management systems and can effectively communicate WALI needs to software engineers and programmers.
Success in this position means the candidate contributes to WALI’s success through:
- Managing portal operations and the software development process
- Providing world-class customer service to resolve escalated concerns
- Managing the day-to-day of WALI operations including workplans, budgets and communication
- Supporting the development of strategic partnerships
- Driving the continuous improvement of WALI’s services
- Working collaboratively with the WALI and BCAC teams to further sector priorities
Candidate qualities and qualifications:
- You show clear evidence of managerial expertise, including effective management of schedules, budgets and teams.
- You are proficient at testing data-heavy web applications and are skilled with MySQL, Linux, Dynamics and Python.
- You can work with demanding stakeholders to bring people together around a common goal.
- You demonstrate advanced competencies in managing and developing CRM systems.
- You have a demonstrated ability to work well under pressure of multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- You have strong organizational skills to manage various customer needs and conduct follow-ups in a timely manner.
- You excel in driving results independently but also collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- You adapt quickly to changing priorities and handle problem-solving situations with urgency and fastidious attention to detail.
- You actively demonstrate a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude and get along well with others.
- You are resilient to stress, self-manage your growth edges and pursue personal and professional growth.
- You have worked at least 5 years in a role requiring directly related or highly transferable skills.
- You have completed post-secondary education in computer science, business administration or other relevant field.
